A BrightStar Healthcare home health and medical staffing agency franchise will open in Glendale on May 1.

The office at 5261 N. Port Washington Road will provide private duty nursing services for in-home care as well as supplemental staffing for hospitals, nursing homes and assisted living facilities, said owner Corey Schneider. Schneider previously worked as a physical therapist for seven years.

BrightStar, based in Gurnee, Illinois, sells the franchises to new owners who pay a $35,000 initial fee. Other locations are in Chicago, Schaumburg, Illinois, and Pittsburgh.

Schneider said he plans to hire about 50 to 75 nurses and nurse’s aides in the first year.

The company also will target local pediatric practices to provide trained staff to care for children, particularly twins and triplets, Schneider said.
